HOW TO BREW WITH FRENCH PRESS
French Press (Traditional)
Coffee: 40g
Water: 480g
Temp: 200F
Ratio: 1:12 (coffee : water)
Grind: Coarse
Brew Time: 4:00 min
1tbsp coffee = ~7grams
1 fluid oz water = ~28grams
Heat kettle to 200F
Pre-heat French Press and serving vessel
Pour coarsely ground coffee into French Press
Place French Press on scale and tare it to 0 grams
Start timer and pour 80g of water
Bloom for 45 seconds
At 0:45, pour remaining 400g of water stopping at 480g (80g Bloom + 400g Pour)
Place plunger on top and press down slightly to where the metal screen is about ¼” under the surface of the water to ensure all of the coffee is submerged throughout the brewing process
At 4:00, press plunger down slowly for 15 sec
At 4:15, pour coffee into serving vessel(s)
Tip: I recommend pouring all of the coffee out of the French Press into your cup or into a serving vessel if brewing more than 1 cup at a time. This ensures that the coffee will not over extract while sitting in the French Press still in contact with the coffee
